Senior Section

Any member of Girlguiding who is aged 14 - 26-years old is a member of the Senior Section whatever role she has. The programme for the Senior Section is designed to widen the horizons of the young woman. It gives her opportunities to discuss things that are important to her, try adventurous activities, practise her leadership skills and challenge her to achieve her personal best, as well as having fun.

These young women may be members of Girlguiding in a variety of ways:
  • Ranger
  • Young Leader
  • Guider
  • Working on Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Scheme
It is possible to have more than one role, for example a young woman could be both a Ranger and Young Leader.

Senior Section Groups - Rangers, aged 14 - 26 years old, meet together in small groups if they wish, but equally have flexible arrangements so they keep in touch in a way that suits everyone.

Young Leaders, aged 14 - 18-years old, work with a Rainbow, Brownie or Guide unit in agreement with the District Commissioner, the Senior Section Guider and the unit leader.

Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Scheme candidates can participate at all levels (bronze, silver and gold). A girl working toward an award through an organisation other than Girlguiding, for example a school or another youth organisation, can choose to work towards the service element within guiding.
